Wellington EMS started as a
volunteer service in 1971. Today, WEMS continues to be a
mostly volunteer entity with part time paid
administration that deals with the day to day business.
In 1994, the IRS recognized our not-for-profit
status. An
elected Board of Directors oversees the organization
according to its articles of incorporation and bylaws.
We are blessed to continue to have enough
certified volunteers to cover shifts 24/7… AND WE ARE
ALWAYS LOOKING FOR MORE.
We are so thankful for the grant
funds and the donations towards our building of a new
EMS station.
Ground has been broken and work has begun on our
40x80 metal building which will be our headquarters and
house all three trucks in a climate controlled
environment.
The future Wellington EMS Station is being built
on land given to us by the Co-op Gin and is located
behind the Fire Station.
The funding for this project has come thru a
variety of sources including the ambulance service,
grants from private foundations and from community
contributors such as you.
We want to pave the way in front of our new facility
with bricks. This fundraiser allows you to purchase a
personalized engraved brick, adding your name as a
supporter of WEMS.
The bricks are $100 for a 4x8 or $200 for an 8x8.
We plan on having them in their
forever place in front of the facility by July 1, 2016.
The Board of Directors and
Volunteers continue working towards our goal to be one
of the best EMS providers in the state.
