St. John Lutheran School invites you to become a permanent part of our newly engineered playground area project by purchasing a commemorative brick and/or bench for the new SAINTS PATIO. This outside eating area for our students will be installed in the current grassy area behind the middle school building and adjacent to Grace Place. The SAINTS PATIO will give our students the opportunity to eat outside during lunch as well as provide a place to eat and socialize during baseball games. We hope to have the SAINTS PATIO in place by the spring of 2016. Purchasing a SAINTS PATIO brick or bench is an easy way to leave a lasting legacy on the St. John Lutheran campus while helping to fund the new playground area project. There are many options for you to engrave on your custom brick or bench. These include:

  • Student or Alumni’s Name and Graduating Class

  • Anniversaries

  • Favorite Scripture Verse

  • Business Name

  • Favorite Teacher

  • Someone Special

  • Special Occasions

  • Honor a Classmate, Family Member or Influential Person in Your Life

  • Teacher Dedication

  • Baptism Date

  • Organization Name

  • School Club

  •  Sunday School Class

  • Family Name

  • Wedding

If you would like to contribute but just can’t think of anything to say on your brick or bench, an easy GO SAINTS or GOD BLESS works too! We are also encouraging Sunday School classes, Committees, School Clubs and Sports Teams to go in together to purchase an 8” x 8” brick or bench.

SAINTS PATIO bricks are available in two sizes, 4”x 8”: maximum 3 lines and 8” x 8”:  maximum 6 lines. Please make sure to use no more than 21 characters per line; 18 characters per line is recommended. In addition, concrete benches are available and permit a maximum of 35 characters per line and a maximum of 4 lines. Please make sure to use all CAPITAL LETTERS when filling out your brick or bench order form.

A large Saint John logo will be located in the middle of the patio. We are seeking a single sponsor for this. With this sponsorship, your family or business name will be included by the logo.

The deadline for ordering bricks and benches is December 17, 2015. Donations for the SAINTS PATIO bricks and benches are tax-deductible.

OUR CAMPUS RECREATION PROJECT has been organized and planned to make important improvements to our outside recreational areas. Included in this plan is the replacement of our current playground equipment for the K3-Kindergarten students. The current structure is not age appropriate for our young students and poses safety hazards. We are also improving the upper playground by adding a new free standing structure as well as creating a designated tetherball and volleyball area. All of the play area has a large drainage problem that needs to be addressed before we can make any of these improvements.

We have a five phase plan in place to make the essential improvements with a target date of December 17th for brick and bench orders to be received. By purchasing a brick and/or bench this will allow us fund these improvements in addition to the SAINTS PATIO.

Phase One: Tree work: raising the tree canopy by removing the lower limbs and moss.

Phase Two: Resolve drainage issues and prepare playground for safe usage by- removal of cross ties & other obstacles; relocate PK swing set; grading and fill dirt including drainage system, root coverage (tripping hazard); sidewalk work; new fencing; addition of mulch, etc.

Phase Three: New playground equipment installation of PK area- slide/sand/water tables; crawl tube/butterfly climbers; teeter totter; small curved balance beam; junior climber/ fun bouncer; mulch/new border; vinyl privacy fence around A/C unit/ install water fountain; misc. sand toys etc.

Phase Four: Upper Play area- install one new free standing circular structure; move tetherball area to make all structures the same area; new swing seats; fencing

Phase Five:  Volleyball area- New net/balls; beach sand; perimeter border or court, fencing, etc.

This five phase plan has an estimated cost to be just over $45,000. There are many items mentioned above that can be accomplished by volunteer workers donating their time, talents and sweat equity over the next three months to any of the above mentioned project phases. If you are able to help, please email Betsy Schatt at betsyschatt@gmail.com

We hope that everyone; students, parents, grandparents, congregation members, teachers and staff will contribute to this project that will significantly improve our campus. An area we can be proud to show our families, visitors and potential new students.

Please contact Betsy Schatt with any questions at betsyschatt@gmail.com or 342-0040

We appreciate your generosity and look forward to you helping us build a strong foundation for our future. Brick by Brick we can make a difference.
