Washington Twp School Memorial Park

For five generations, students learned more than the 3 R's at Washington Township School near Circleville, Ohio. At the top of the list were the values of Respect and Responsibility. Now that the physical building is gone, it is our responsibility to preserve those school day memories. A committee of Washington friends has developed a plan to memorialize the school grounds with the goal of making it a park. It will take many more of us to reach this goal.

Washington Twp School Memorial Park will be accomplished in phases. A rendering of Phase 1 appears on this Donor Site. It includes a brick monument representing the original physical building using its own salvaged bricks. The monument and a 12 foot circular brick patio will be located near the apex of the existing front sidewalk, visible from Stoutsville Pike. It will also include a seating wall, lighting and flagpole. Your help is needed in raising funds to carry out this first phase. Our fundraising goal for it is $20,000. This effort will qualify us to apply for a community grant.

Phase 2 will likely involve a walkway from an improved parking area. Further phases will include the addition of a picnic shelter and continuing maintenance of the driveway, parking areas, playground and ball diamonds. Both the circular patio and proposed walkway will be constructed of bricks which may be personalized to memorialize or honor a former student or staff member of the school. Such 4x8 bricks may be ordered on this site for the price of $70 each.
