The Assist the Officer (ATO) Foundation provides crucial financial assistance to first responders facing loss of income due to serious injury, life-threatening illness, or other catastrophic events. We also offer immediate support to families following the tragic loss of an active officer.

Since 1999, ATO has helped thousands of officers and their loved ones through some of life’s most difficult moments. As the needs of our community grow, so do we.

In 2004, the ATO Foundation launched a first-of-its-kind confidential counseling program created specifically for Dallas police officers. The daily burdens of life can weigh heavily on anyone—especially those who serve and protect under constant stress and danger. Developed through a collaboration between officers and mental health professionals, this program ensures our responders receive the support they deserve.

Today, ATO proudly offers confidential counseling to ALL local first responders, reflecting our commitment to meeting the evolving needs of those who protect us. In 2024 alone, ATO assisted 129 families, 23 agencies, providing over $416,017 in assistance.
