of the Betty and Jacob Friedman Holistic Garden at
Rice University by purchasing
an engraved brick to help us make the demonstration gardens in the front of our
Garden more accessible. Your gift will also help us maintain the Garden year
round and allow us to offer programs that create community and introduce people
of all ages and physical abilities to the benefits of planting, nurturing and
picking their own produce.
Your engraved brick is
a lasting legacy to celebrate a graduation, honor a loved one, show school or
college spirit, or pay tribute to a favorite colleague, professor, or your time
as a student.
You can purchase a
4"x8" brick for $100 or a 12"x12" brick for $300. All bricks are reddish orange
to match the pavers in our outdoor kitchen and pergola and feature uppercase
letters in black. Each 4"x8" brick fits a maximum of 3 lines with 18 characters
per line, including punctuation and spacing; each 12"x12" brick fits a maximum
of 10 lines with 23 characters per line including punctuation and spacing. To
save space, we suggest using "&" instead of the word "and." If your message does
not fit on the brick size of your choosing, please contact us at
garden@rice.edu. We can help you abbreviate your message or discuss purchasing
multiple bricks.
Bricks will be
installed in the front of the Garden between the main entrance and the outdoor
kitchen. They will be installed twice a year in the fall and spring, but you can
purchase a brick anytime to be included in a future installation. Once
installed, they will remain there for the life of the Garden.
