In 1995 the Port Orford Public Library Foundation was established to spearhead the efforts to raise money for a permanent Library home.
The Foundation succeeded by raising enough to build a new Library with no debt. Because the Library is a Special District, its tax rate is fixed, and does not keep pace with ever-rising expenses.
The Foundation is determined to maintain the library’s financial independence without reducing programs and services. Thus, a new vision was born: a large endowment fund earning enough interest to supplement our property tax income.
Each gift to our endowment fund helps secure the future self-sufficiency of this essential public resource, for the people who use the library today and for all the children of tomorrow.
