The North End Memorial Rose Garden Project: A memorial garden to honor the families who lived in the North End, teachers & staff that worked at & students who attended Roosevelt Elementary & Turner Jr. High.
The Roosevelt Area Neighborhood Group has been caring for a vacant lot at the corner of Vernon Ave & Roosevelt St NW since 2017. The vision for this lot was to transform it into a “neighborhood beautician project” for everyone to enjoy. That is how the idea of The North End Rose Garden Project was started.
With the help of the current 2nd Ward Councilman (Andrew Herman), ARP funds were allocated to get the project completed. The rose garden was designed to allow for personally engraved memorial bricks to be purchased and installed in the memorial garden’s landscape.
The personally engraved memorial bricks can be for a family, friend, student, teacher or business that was once a part of the North End community.
The money raised from the purchase of the bricks will also be used for the maintenance and care of the The North End Memorial Rose Garden Project.
