Hope Rises, Brick by Brick
Our beautiful
Wishing Place endured a devastating water event, and our two main
mission-delivery floors were severely flooded. If you have walked through our
doors, you've experienced the reality-pausing magic that this place inspires in
hearts and minds. This is the place where, even if only for a moment, a child
who is battling a life-changing illness can play and get inspired to make their
one true wish. This is the place where that child's family can sit down, take a
breath, and watch hope come to life.
The impact is much
larger than the hundreds of thousands of dollars' worth of damage. It is the
emotional impact on our wish families who consider The Wishing Place their home
away from home, and have made some of their most positive core memories there.
It is in the heartbreak of the staff, board, and donors who spent years of time
and love carefully funding and crafting each space to evoke a sense of wonder
for our wish kids.
After the dust
settles, hope rises. It rises in the form of the Connecticut family and our
extended Make-A-Wish Connecticut family coming together to give donations and
time, gather their friends and family, and communities in a movement of hope
across Connecticut, and generate awareness about Make-A-Wish Connecticut and our
beloved Wishing Place. We've been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love from our
Make-A-Wish family and need your continued support as we recover.
So while The Wishing
Place is closed to wish visits, delivery parties, tours and more — we are in the
process of rebuilding, re-engaging and re-imagining our campus. We are
celebrating wishes past, present and future, and YOU are a part of our greater
wish family of supporters. This is your opportunity to leave a permanent mark on
our campus in our new Wish Walk, coming this summer.
Together, we are rebuilding, brick by brick. So, join us!
