Help improve and preserve Kingsman Dog Park to provide a safe and reliable space for every dog in the neighborhood to roam and play! We invite Park Pals, friends, and neighbors who know and love our local dog park to sponsor a brick today. Each brick purchased will show your love for your community and support our dog park improvement efforts.
Kingsman Dog Park, located at 13th Street and Tennessee Avenue NE, opened in the spring of 2011 as a partnership between DPR and Capitol Hill Hounds - the predecessor community group to Kingsman Bark. While the dog park has provided a place for neighborhood pups of all sizes to socialize and exercise, the park has fallen into disrepair over the years. Thanks to the dedicated advocacy of many neighbors and our local representatives from the ANC and Council, Kingsman Bark successfully worked with Council Member Charles Allen to secure $1.25 million for a park improvement project.
DPR and DGS have presented a plan that will improve drainage and install a new engineered wood fiber (EWF) ground cover for the dog park, plus offer much needed enhancements throughout the dog park, basketball courts, and adjacent recreational field. The plan includes repairs to fencing, new gates, additional signage, new trash and recycling receptacles, new water fountains, an additional shade structure, and the addition of a dog washing station. The project is expected to be completed in late May or early June.
Once the project is complete, the city relies on the community to provide ongoing support and maintenance for the dog park. As the official “Friends of Group” for the dog park, Kingsman Bark is an all volunteer run nonprofit that is tasked with organizing volunteers for community clean ups and fundraising to support the replenishment of EWF ground cover twice annually and to purchase supplies for the park, such as poop bags and cleaning materials to ensure the park is safe and sanitary for our pooches.
Your participation will help us keep the dog park safe for play, as its care and maintenance runs completely on donations from the community. All net proceeds from brick sales and any additional donations will support our fundraising efforts and will be invested directly into the dog park.
Please make a donation today to help us build community among neighbors and ensure a strong future for our neighborhood dog park and recreational facilities.
In order to have your brand/logo engraved on your brick please email a clear picture of your brand/logo to kingsmanbark@gmail.com. Brands/logos will not be submitted for engraving until the brick is paid for in full.
Please note: The city generally does not allow the use of language such as “in memory of” in DC Parks without full Council and Mayoral approval.
