The Isaiah 117 House at Chambliss Center for Children will transform the foster care experience in Hamilton County by providing a comforting home where children who are removed from their families can await foster care placement. It will be a safe place with friendly and loving volunteers who provide clean clothes, smiles, toys, snuggly blankets, and more on the worst day of a child’s life. This welcoming space will offer every child who enters foster care in Hamilton County the security and care they need while their case manager works to identify a suitable foster placement.
Currently, in Hamilton County, children and youth are taken to the Department of Children’s Services (DCS) office to wait while their case manager searches for a proper foster or kinship placement. This process can take several hours, days, or even weeks, reintroducing trauma to a child who has already endured abuse and neglect at home and faced the pain of being separated from parents or caregivers. We believe that no child should have to wait in a cold, sterile office during such a vulnerable and scary time.
The Isaiah 117 House at Chambliss Center for Children is currently under construction. Your purchase of a brick paver will be used on the driveway or other area surrounding the home and will help us build and operate this beautiful home for children entering foster care. Brick sales available now through September 9, 2022.
