Support the brick pathway to the Colonial Garden at the New Canaan Museum!

The Colonial Garden at the New Canaan Museum has been lovingly maintained by the New Canaan Garden Club since 1981. It reflects the vital role that plants played in daily colonial life. During the 17th and 18th centuries, herbs and other plants were essential to survival—valued not only for their flavor, but also for their healing properties, household uses, and roles in personal care.

The New Canaan Garden Club’s recent improvements to the garden have included a brick path within the garden, new fencing, identifying signage on the plants, and many new culinary and medicinal varieties.

Now the plan is to build a brick walkway that connects the Colonial Garden to the rest of the historic house museums, including the 1799 Rock School and the National Landmark Rogers Studio.  For $100, you can purchase a brick to honor or memorialize a friend, family member, teacher, mentor, or pet.  And you can support the construction of this walkway so that the garden is accessible to all.
