Dear
Epsilon Upsilon Pike Brothers,
The Pike House has
been the focal point of our Fraternity for most of our 60 plus years of history.
Many of us visited
515 West 7th Street last fall when we gathered to celebrate 60 Years of Pikes at
Gannon. The House has held up remarkably well considering the wear and tear it
is subjected to in any given year. And today, Pi Kappa Alpha is Gannon’s largest
fraternity and the only Greek organization at Gannon that still has a house. The
Pike House is a tangible asset which enhances the intangible benefits of
becoming a Pike. The House is where we have our meetings and social gatherings;
and it’s where memories and lifelong friendships are made. The Pike House
remains a source of pride for all Active Brothers and Alumni of Epsilon Upsilon.
Pike House
Grounds and Landscaping Beautification Project
The current Chapter
Officers reached out to the Alumni Board for help with some backyard
improvements that will make the space more functional for larger gatherings.
Specifically, installation of fencing, rebuilding a firepit, replacement of a
shed, security lighting, and a solution for deteriorated bushes and grass
patches. With the help of the Lake Erie Pike Alumni Association contact was made
with Doreen and Rick Petri and other Erie area Alumni and spouses who have
expertise in these matters. They conducted a site inspection, outlined a phased
improvement plan, and agreed to provide advice and guidance to the Actives. We
thank these volunteers.
The Legacy
Brick Fundraising Campaign
Buy
a Brick, Leave a Legacy
A project of this
scope is beyond the normal budget funded by member dues and levying a
significant assessment would be unrealistic. We believe a manageable solution
would be to conduct an engraved brick fundraising campaign. This approach would
not only provide the needed project funds but would also add a hardscape feature
to the beautification project and provide an opportunity for loyal Pikes to
place their name on the property. We have chosen to work with Bricks R Us, a
company with over 30 years’ experience helping organizations use memorial bricks
to raise funds for their causes, including the Pi Kappa Alpha Memorial
Headquarters in Memphis, TN.
Your Brick
Tells Your Story – Who, When, Where
Your $100 donation
buys a 4” x 8” finished clay brick with a smooth surface, beveled edges, and
space bars on the sides. Your personalized brick will be inscribed with your
name, initiation year, and hometown. The standard format of the 4” x 8” brick
will have three lines, 21 characters per line, including spaces and punctuation.
Line 1 – First and
Last Name
Line 2 – Initiation
Year
Line 3 – Hometown
This brick
fundraising campaign will be a simple and successful method of raising the funds
needed for the Pike House Grounds and Landscaping Beautification Project. The
engraved bricks will be placed near the backyard firepit where they will be the
focal point of the backyard.
Can You Give
a Brother a Brick? YES, please do!
Please consider
making an Additional Donation so we can memorialize over 60 of our Brothers who
have entered Chapter Eternal, our Founders and Advisors, or another special Pike
such as your Big Brother. Your additional donation will help us purchase these
engraved bricks so they will have a place of honor among us. Your brick, and
theirs, will become a permanent part of a memorial honoring our Epsilon Upsilon
Pike Chapter. If you would like to honor a specific person with your additional
donation, please put their name(s) in the comment section. Otherwise, the
engraving committee will use the funds to honor someone on the Chapter Eternal
list.
Building Pike Pride
The Lake Erie Pike
Alumni Association invites Alumni and Active Members to purchase an engraved
commemorative brick so you can cement your legacy at the Pike House forever!
Once a Pike –
Always a Pike
Thank you for your consideration, support, and generosity.
