Ever After Equine will provide no cost equine experiences to siblings of
children with chronic health disorders. The emphasis behind this program is to
allow the space for the "other" child to cope, build confidence, and reduce
stress through horses. Children will be provided with a 1:1 session with an
equine professional and also be invited to a summer camp event with children who
are also experiencing similar stressors. Ever After Equine will serve families
throughout Southern Wisconsin and then open it's door to families that are
receiving care at one of the hospitals in Dane County.
This mission is near and dear to my heart as I was the "other" child standing by
while my sibling struggled with a very rare autoimmune disorders that left him
hospitalized the majority of his adolescence. Most families are not prepared to
deal with the mental health aftermath of this type of a crisis. I was fortunate
that my family had the ability to purchase a horse, in which I fully devoted
myself to. My horse served as my companion, my therapist, and was there when I
needed him the most. The lessons I learned from this experience are larger than
words. Now, I am incredibly blessed to be in a position to use my equine
knowledge and my mental health education to provide equine experiences for
children who would also benefit.
