KARTHEISER FAMILY ROCK GARDEN

We are proud to announce the dedication of the Kartheiser Family Rock Garden at Coonley Elementary School — a beautifully imagined space designed to inspire creativity, curiosity, and community. This thoughtfully crafted garden offers students a peaceful place to explore nature, reflect, and learn beyond the classroom walls.

The garden honors Kathy Kennedy-Kartheiser, who served as Coonley’s principal from 2004–2010. During her tenure, she helped found the Friends of Coonley and orchestrated the very first Spring Fling in 2000. Kathy and her husband, Jim, have been instrumental in shaping the vibrant, connected Coonley community we know today.

With the dedication of the Rock Garden, we are also excited to launch the “Coonley Legacy Brick Project.” This special initiative gives families, alumni, staff, and local businesses the opportunity to leave a lasting mark on Coonley with a personalized engraved brick.

Family bricks, child-specific bricks, alumni bricks, and business sponsor bricks are all available — each one helping to support our school while becoming a permanent part of Coonley’s story.
