The Cindy Miles Adaptive Fund was started in 2023 to honor Cindy Miles, PT, PhD, PCS. Cindy was a 1972 graduate of Northampton Area High School and a 1976 Graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. Cindy was a beloved and admired teacher, mentor, friend, and pillar of the physical therapy community through her practice, teachings, and professional stewardship. Cindy believed in fun and fitness for all abilities. She saw fitness as a priority for all children and families and a fun way to reach their full potential.

The Fund’s mission is to continue Cindy’s legacy and build an inclusive playground by partnering with Northampton Borough to build a 10,000 square foot inclusive playground at the 4th Street Park. The playground is scheduled to open to the public in June 2026 and will feature a range of purpose-built inclusive and accessible playground equipment, as well as a Poured In Place rubber safety surface for all around access for people in wheelchairs or using assisted mobility devices. The playground will be a welcoming, inclusive place for families of all abilities to gather.
