Help pave the way
for future generations... While honoring those that made a difference in our
community.
The GFWC Coral Gables
Woman’s Club proudly announces plans for a brick walkway to honor those who have
been a part of our our historic legacy. This wonderful landmark site will have a
beautiful American flag flying high, as a centerpiece tribute to the memorial
brick walkway.
The bricks will be
situated at the entrance of the “Grande Dame,” edifice, completed in 1936, on
land donated by the city for the purpose of building the first permanent
library. The coral rock, excavated from the City’s quarry, will meld with the
memorial bricks to provide multi-generational remembrance.
The adjoining north
wing was designated for the Clubhouse members who organized and operated the
library since 1927.
This building is "one
of a kind" and has been faithfully preserved as an artistic architectural
artifact of the city.
The City of Coral
Gables recognizes the traditions that are interwoven through our history and
continue their valuable support to preserve this honored legacy.
As of March 27, 1990,
the building is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
The Brick Memorial
will consist of inlaid 4x8 & 8x8 & 12x12 bricks, each one bearing the name and
details of a beloved Past President of our club, a member, so someone who has
rented one or both of our historic halls to celebrate a wedding, anniversary, or
other special event. Your honorary brick will be carefully placed alongside the
many others who have been a part of our 100 year history.
Each Brick is
professionally engraved with time proven materials designed to weather the
elements. The 4x8 Brick donation is $125 and the larger 8x8 Brick is $250. The
12x12 brick is $450. Your donation and order details can be provided by completing the form below.
