Friends of Newtown Park and Bark has kicked off its "Buy-a-Brick
Campaign"
to add the special finishing touch of a brick
walkway to Newtown’s
much needed and eagerly anticipated
off-leash dog park. Buy a
brick, have it engraved, and dedicate your purchase in
honor/memory of a special pet or person. Or make a fun, socially
acceptable statement that shows your love of animals and our
mission.
Now is the perfect time to show your commitment
to help dogs in a creative way, while supporting Friends of Park
and Bark mission to help us build a special place for our furry
friends to exercise and socialize with other dogs and people.
And also enjoyed romping in our very own dog splash pad or
agility fun zone.
Friends of Newtown Park and Bark are looking to be the number
“1” Dog Park.
Mission and Vision: We have established funding for our park,
our mission to create a well-designed dog park for the enjoyment
of Newtown residents as well as to continue fund-raising events
to provide the resources for ongoing maintenance of the park.
Our slightly-larger-than- two- acre land parcel is on Old Farms
Road, off Wasserman Way, adjacent to the new Brian J. Silverlieb
Animal Care and Control Center and across from the Governor’s
Horse Guard.
Features planned for the park include two fenced play areas, a
large general play space and a smaller separate section for
smaller, older and more timid dogs.
Availability of drinking water, shade structure and trees and
benches will provide a safe and comfortable environment for
human and canine park visitors.
And because it’s important to us that dogs have fun and
stimulation!
