In 1965, members of the First Presbyterian Church of
Terrell responded to the call of God and began to plan
the formation of the first pre-school program in
Terrell. Reverend and Mrs. Huneycutt were instrumental
in the establishment of First Presbyterian Kindergarten
(FPK) and were proud to see the first integrated
kindergarten class graduate in 1966.
After fifty years of faithfully loving and teaching
children through those early pre-school years, First
Presbyterian Church Terrell gives thanks to God in
proclaiming the 2015-2016 school year a “Jubilee year.”
For FPK this Jubilee Year is to be a celebration of all
the wonderful children and their families, the staff,
and the church members who have all been graced by God’s
goodness over the past 50 years.
There are to be celebration events throughout the
school year that included a “kick-off” picnic, the
establishment of an alumni association, and will
culminate in a month long celebration of the 50th
graduating class at First Presbyterian Church, Terrell
in May 2016.
As part of this jubilee celebration, FPK and the church
wish to commemorate the past 50 years by the creation of
a labyrinth prayer garden and the establishment of a
scholarship endowment fund. As part of this effort we
are selling commemorative bricks that are to be
incorporated into a path for the prayer garden. All
past and present students and staff and anyone who
wishes to support this vital ongoing ministry in Terrell
are invited to purchase a brick to remember,
commemorate, and celebrate.
