Buy-A-Brick Campaign
The Brookside History
Museum has launched a unique and lasting way for donors to
contribute to the renovation and continued operation of the
Brookside History Museum at the Historic Burrell-Country House.
The Burrell-Country House is a rare piece of historic
architecture. A shotgun house
built around the turn of the twentieth century, it represents
a fine example of the shotgun style architecture that was at one
time very prevalent across the South. The house was donated
by Joseph Graham in memory of his grandparents Jobo and Sue
Country to the Town of Brookside in May 2009. The Town decided
to renovate the house and turn it into the long anticipated
history museum. Beginning in September 2009, the house will
undergo series of renovation projects and be open to the public
in April 2010. You can contribute by purchasing a brick that
will be used in constructing the walkways and garden space of
the house. You may wish to donate a brick in memory of a family
member or put some special sentiment on it. Bricks come in two
sizes: 4x8 for $50 and 8x8 for $75.
