As many of you are already
aware, the Zeta Phi chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha at the University
of Missouri – St. Louis suffered a tragic loss late last year.
In the early morning of November 29, 2006, a fire destroyed our
chapter house at 8826 Natural Bridge Road taking with it the
life of senior brother Brian Schlittler.
While the house was completely paid off, Housing Corp had been
inactive for ten years and there was no insurance in place to
cover such a tragedy. Immediately following the fire, several
alumni gathered to discuss the future of the Zeta Phi chapter at
the University of Missouri – St. Louis. It was determined that
if the chapter was to continue, it would take a massive
reconstruction and fundraising effort by the alumni, from the
founding fathers to the newly graduated.
In response to this realization, alumni have reestablished the
Zeta Phi Housing Corporation and chartered the Zeta Phi Alumni
Association. From these two entities, the Zeta Phi Capital
Campaign Committee has been founded for the express purpose of
rebuilding the chapter house.
Many other chapters across the nation and their alumni have
asked what they can do to help. We have embarked upon an
Engraved Brick campaign to assist in fundraising. Chapters and
individuals may purchase bricks that will be engraved with up to
10 lines of text (depending on the brick size purchased). These
bricks will be used to create the four walls of the Chapter Room
in the new house and will be a constant reminder to all who
enter the house of the generosity and philanthropy that our
beloved fraternity is known for the world over.
