AN OLD FRIEND NEEDS YOUR HELP
Built back in
1931, Washington Elementary School has seen
thousands of children come through it’s doors. The colonial
style structure now comfortably houses 600 children, (pre-K –
4th Grade). Recently, due to health and safety issues, our
playground had to be removed. A group of parents started the
Wildcats Playground Fund, to raise funds to build a new
playground.
We are a community of hardworking people who would like to give
our children a safe place to play. Our mission is to raise
enough money to build a new playground for the school and the
community.
Our new playground will have a special Tot Lot area for the
younger children, with age appropriate activities. Our area for
the older children will consist of items that will help build
strong bodies and cultivate friendships. The proposed playground
will have areas where the parents can sit, relax and watch their
children play. Gym classes will have the opportunity to use a
fitness area during class. All areas will meet or exceed all
handicapped accessibility guidelines.
The Washington School/Wildcats Playground Fund needs your help
to achieve
our goal of building a new playground. To help with the cost, we
are asking for your support by buying a commemorative, engraved
brick. Perhaps you have seen bricks like these in the downtown
area or on other playgrounds. These bricks will be used to make
a walkway to and around the new playground. We invite everyone
to buy a brick – family, friends, neighbors, alumni and local
businesses. These bricks make a terrific holiday or graduation
gift for a child, teacher or Washington Alumnus.
Purchasing a brick gives you a great opportunity to show your
support and have your generosity etched in stone for generations
to come.
