With all of the recent growth we have seen as R.E. Thalberg Elementary School, we are in position that we need to expand our current playground equipment.  The current structure is not adequate to support the number of children that use it during recess.  During larger events at the school, due to the limited parking, the students are often not able to use it at all. 

The proposal is to replace and expand the structure in the northwest corner of the school by the Kindergarten classes and keep the newer equipment on the east side of the school.  The goal of the new playground is to bring in more challenging equipment, which promotes increased physical activity and creates an outdoor learning environment.   During the November, 2014 student focus groups, more challenging equipment, obstacle courses and larger play structures were rated very high by all grade levels.
