"St. Elizabeth Ann
Seton is erecting a memorial sitting area on the northwest front
lawn of the Church. The statue of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton with three
children will be installed this summer along with the paved walkways
connecting the sitting area from the northwest side and from the
front entrances to the Church. The statue will be dedicated to our
founding pastor, Rev. John J. Duffy, as the funding for this project
will come from part of his estate’s gift to the parish.
The core of the area is a 20' x 20' square with the statue in the
center of it within an 8' x 8' square. This outer square area will
be paved with bricks 4" x 8" x 2 1/4" rather than with concrete.
Each of these bricks can be engraved using a 113 year old method of
sandblasting combined with the latest computer design technology.
Thus, giving the opportunities for others to memorialize a person or
persons or an event in this sitting area.
Blank bricks will initially fill the square with these bricks set in
sand. As 25 bricks are sold and engraved, the blank bricks will be
replaced. We have contracted with BRICKS ‘R US to engrave and to
ship the memorial bricks to us.
Bricks will sell for $100 for a four by eight inch brick. The
4x8 brick will have space for three lines, eighteen characters per
line.
The net proceeds from all brick sales will go into our building
fund.
Commemorate a special event in someone's life such as a birth, a
