We are
raising money to help pay for Providence Academy’s new campus.
The bricks will be placed along the walkways throughout the
school’s campus.
Providence
Academy is a not-for-profit school for children and adolescents
with special needs. They are typically children that “fall
between the cracks” because they don't fit the model of the
current educational system, but who have the potential for
learning if the academic setting is appropriate. East Orlando
is in desperate need of a school that works with these children.
We are in
the process of raising money to build a facility that will house
approximately 100 students Kindergarten through 12th
grade. The population of children that Providence Academy
serves includes students with Learning Disabilities,
Attention
Deficit Disorders, High Functioning Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome,
and other Pervasive Developmental Disorders. The student/teacher
ratio will be five students to every one teacher and will have
intensive academic and therapeutic services in the areas of
Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Social Skills
Training, and Neurotherapy. The program will also have a
transitional living facility that helps young adults. This
division will be for students who have graduated high school,
but still need to learn how to live independently and require
supports in a vocation and/or college. The Center for Health,
Learning and Achievement will have a building on the campus that
provides all children and family services to the school as well
as the greater Orlando community.
