Funds are being raised to build the New Mexico Corrections
Department Officers’ Memorial. The Memorial will serve as a tribute
to New Mexico Corrections Department Officers who made the ultimate
sacrifice, dying in the line of duty. The Memorial will also serve
as a reminder of the dangers faced by today’s officers.
When completed, the Memorial will be located on the south side of
the New Mexico Corrections Training Academy in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
The project plans include a granite wall etched and engraved with a
design of officers and an honor list of fallen officers; two
benches, existing grass and trees, and a brick walkway. Information
about each officer being memorialized will be engraved on the wall
to include his or her name, date of death, and the name and location
of the last facility he or she worked at. Personalized bricks
purchased by contributors will be incorporated into the walkway.
For more
information about the Memorial, please call (505) 827-8386; email:

Engraved bricks are not only a show of support, they are a permanent
way to commemorate a special event in someone’s life, honor a friend
or family member, or memorialize someone special.
The bricks are available in two sizes: 4x8 for $50 and 8x8 for $100.
Due to set up charges, there is an additional $70 charge to engrave
a custom logo on the brick. Checks should be made payable to “NMCD
Officers’ Memorial Fund.” Contributors will be mentioned in the
NMCDOM’s newsletter. All contributions are greatly appreciated by
the officers who work to protect the citizens of their communities.
On their behalf, thank you for showing your support.
Brian Mayfield, President NMCDOM and
Johnathan Griffith, Vice-President NMCDOM
