- EAGLE SCOUT SERVICE PROJECTS -
Freedom is just one simple
word in our English language but it has come to mean so much to
us as Americans. Our history is filled with so many fellow
Americans who have shed their blood to give us the freedom and
quality of life that we all enjoy so much today. My grandfather
fought in the Battle of the Bulge and told me many stories of
World War II. What most impressed me is that he was not much
older than I am when he went to war.

For my Eagle Scout Project,
I have decided to construct a War Memorial in honor of all
veterans who have fought past, present and future in Moore
Township near Bath, Pa. in memory of my beloved grandfather. The
War Memorial will be located in the Community Recreation Park of
the Township off Route 946 by the football field in front of the
existing flag pole. The War Memorial has a granite memorial
stone engraved with "Dedicated in honor of the men and women
that have fought for our freedom and quality of life past,
present and future". In between the points of the blue star are
five bronze emblems representing each of the five branches of
service. Below the cement pad are red bricks which can be
purchased and engraved.
To help raise some of the funds needed, we are providing an
opportunity for you to partner with us in this project by
offering bricks for sale. You may purchase a brick IN HONOR OF
or IN MEMORY OF any military person in any branch of service
past or present along with the person's name, rank, branch of
service, and war fought if desired. The red bricks will be
engraved in all capital letters with black paint filling the
engraved area. There will be two sizes of engraved bricks
offered for you to choose from. You may also wish to order an
extra brick to keep for yourself or to give as a gift. You may
also buy a donor certificate for $5.00 which you can send to the
person you are honoring or to the person's family you are
remembering. The bricks are offered in two sizes. The 4x8
engraved brick will have up to 3 lines of text and up to 18
characters per line for $50.00. The 8x8 engraved brick will have
up to 6 lines of text and up to 18 characters per line for
$100.00. Tim, my younger brother is continuing working on the
Memorial for his Eagle Scout Project. He will be doing some
landscaping around the Memorial. If we can raise enough money by
donations, we would like to illuminate the Memorial and the
flagpole so a flag can be placed permanently on the pole.
We hope that we can count on your support to complete this
Memorial in the hopes that we can all show our pride and honor
to the soldiers who have, who are and who will continue to serve
our fine country that we call home.
