FRIENDS WAY (Families
Reaching Into Each New Day, Inc.), a nonprofit 501(3) agency,
is a haven for healing and hope. We are committed to helping
children ages 3-19 and their families mourn a loved one in a
safe, supportive, nurturing and educational environment. FRIENDS
WAY was founded in 1999 in the belief that every child,
teenager
and adult deserves the opportunity to grieve. FRIENDS WAY is a
place to be with others who have had similar experiences with
loss. We offer evening age appropriate peer support groups for
children and teens grieving a meaningful death loss.
Simultaneous peer-support groups for parents and other adult
caregivers are also provided. All FRIENDS WAY groups are
facilitated by trained adult volunteers and coordinated and
supervised by FRIENDS WAY staff members.
Because the death of a parent or sibling not only leaves a family
emotionally overwhelmed, but financially devastated as well, we
do not charge families for our services.
While
grief is a very real and serious emotional pain, it is not
recognized as a clinical diagnosis and therefore is not
reimbursable by insurance. Therefore, we rely solely on grants,
our own fundraising activities, and contributions from our
families and the community.
You, too, can contribute to FRIENDS WAY by purchasing a
remembrance brick for our Memory Garden. We hope to create a
beautiful, peaceful place outdoors where our families can spend
time to remember their loved ones. Bricks will sell for a
minimum donation of $50.00 each. The 4x8 brick will have space
for three lines, eighteen characters per line. Please help us to
create something wonderful by remembering your loved ones and
supporting FRIENDS WAY. Thank you.
