The City of Derby and its
Greenway Committee will be restoring the National Humane
Alliance Fountain and constructing a brick plaza around
the
fountain as a “Gateway” entrance to the very successful Derby
Greenway. The Fountain has been a part of Derby history for more
than a century, and the city is offering everyone an opportunity
to not only help restore the fountain, but also to create a
personal legacy that will add to the allure of the Fountain and
Greenway for generations to come. You have the opportunity to
purchase a brick(s) that will be engraved to commemorate a
personal message. Bricks are a great way to memorialize a loved
one, honor a recent achievement, celebrate a friend or relative,
or leave a personal observation or reflection. The bricks make
great gifts!
This project which began with the relocation of the Fountain to
the Greenway in June, 2006 is scheduled for completion in time
for Memorial Day, 2007. The original lion’s heads spigots are
being recast in South Dakota and will be mounted on the
Fountain. The surrounding brick plaza will include benches and
trees. See the City website for sponsorship opportunities.
The bricks are being sold in either a 4”x8” size or 8”x8”. The
smaller brick can include up to three lines of text with 18
characters per line. The larger brick can accommodate up to six
lines of text with 18 characters per line. The smaller bricks
will cost $50 and the larger ones will be $100. Don’t wait to
place your order as the number of bricks on the plaza is
limited. Logos: If you would like to add a custom logo to
your brick, please include an additional $50 set-up fee plus and
$8.00 engraving fee. Logos should be in black and white and in a
high resolution picture file.
