Our neighborhood school needs your help!
Central School Elementary School in Simsbury is
raising funds to build a new playground. The
current play structure is close to 50 years old,
with the newer components somewhere between 12-20
years old. The equipment is rusty and contains
stress cracks. It is deteriorating badly. The ground
cover has disappeared and the exposed concrete
footings can cause playground injuries.
Additionally, 1/3 of our playground is being removed
to allow for the new Little League field being
installed by the Simsbury Little League. The
equipment in this area is too old and out of
compliance, and therefore can not be relocated. The
new playground will be ADA compliant and will
incorporate equipment that will be used during
physical education classes. Our goal is to have the
current structure removed this August and have a new
playground in place for the beginning of the 2007
school year. The Parent-Teacher Organization has
formed a committee that is working to raise funds to
replace the old play structure.
The Central School playground serves over 250 school
families, as well as the Simsbury Little League and
the Simsbury Parks and Recreation summer day camp
(held at Central school).
This is not just a project that improves the school
but will serve a large part of the community as
well. |
Our goal is to
raise
$65,000 by May 31, 2007 so the project can be completed
in time for the 2007-08 school year.
The bricks are
4” x 8” and cost $100 each.
Each brick is
custom engraved in black for you, your family, organization,
class or group.
Give a brick as
a class gift, as a gift for a teacher, as a thank you gift
to a client, or just to commemorate your child’s time at
Central School.
