Helen Bernstein 1944-1997
“Helen Bernstein was an inspiration for all who believe in the
light of learning: a passionate voice for teachers, and a
relentless fighter who acted on her belief that students come
first.” – Richard Riordan, Former Mayor of Los Angeles.
In Fall of 2008, Helen Bernstein Senior High School will open
its doors to the students of Los Angeles. A scholarship wall in
memory of former United Teachers Los Angeles president Helen
Bernstein - our school’s namesake - will stand at the entrance
to the school next to a large plaque memorializing her life.
You have an extraordinary opportunity to purchase and engrave a
tile, contributing to the Helen Bernstein Scholarship Fund,
which will award college scholarships to seniors at HBSH. The
names, dedications and words you choose to engrave on your tile
will become part of the HBSH’s legacy for generations to come.
Your tile purchase is tax-deductible. You may purchase a full
12x12 tile or a half tile. Engravings must be no more than 23
characters and 10 lines for full tiles and 23 characters and 4
lines for half tiles.
Please call Dan Nieman at School Board Member Marlene Canter’s
Office at 213 241-4259 if you have any questions.
PLEASE NOTE THAT HALF TILES WILL
NOT BE PAIRED
WITH ANY OTHER PARTICULAR ORDER. |
